I think it would be great to have a numeration for records in list view.
That way you could know how many records have been selected after a search etc.

Surely the number of pages, coupled with the rows per page, already indicates the number of rows from the current search?

If the total number is an exact multiple of rows per page yes, otherwise, to get the exact number you have to multiply rows per page x (num pages -1) and then manually count the number of records in the last page.
An alternative would be to display the number of total records retrieved next to 'page generated in XX seconds'

I dont think that the exact number of records is that important. In my many years of experience the number of pages has always been "good enough".

I was looking to build a manual message to display the number of rows returned from queries when I came across this post. In my app I often need to know how many records have been returned, and am finding myself constantly multiplying by number of pages then going to the last page and manually counting. I agree with bonzo_bcn that a count would be useful.

I thought that a good way of displaying it might be to modify the show nn bar to say show nn of xx records.

Attached is a new version of file 'std.buttons.xsl'. Try it out and tell me what you think.

Yes, I like that. It is very simple.
