Way back in Radicore v1.9.0 released on 2006-06-19, the file style_default.css was made redundant as the css folder was brought into being.
Quote:

- created directory CSS to hold a series of css files (which makes 'radicore/style_default.css' redundant), and modified mnu_session_upd.php to allow the user to choose one. This choice will be stored in a cookie so that it persists beyond the current session.

Later versions still have style_default.css as a zero byte file - missing in some though.

When I make a file redundant I first set its contents to zero bytes so that it overwrites your file. Later I remove the file from my distribution.
